In February, Pulaski County High School will host eight prep school teams from across the nation whose rosters include some of the top recruits in NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
One of those recruits is Sacha Killeya-Jones, a Virginia Episcopal 6-foot-10 power forward who has committed to the No. 13-ranked University of Kentucky Wildcats for the 2016-17 season.
The Don Marshall Ram “E” Classic begins Feb. 6 and includes two days of play for local and prep teams.
Two meetings in January will give the public a chance to learn about a National Park Service study that will determine if Mill Springs Battlefield should be added to the national park system.
On Dec. 19, 2014, Congress passed legislation (Public Law 113—291, Title XXX, Subtitle D, Sec. 3051) authorizing the Secretary of the Interior to undertake a study that will examine the national significance of the battlefield, and determine if it will be suitable and feasible to designate the battlefield as a new unit of the national park system. Based on legislative guidance, the National Park Service will focus this study on battlefield lands that comprise the existing National Historic Landmark boundary related to the battle of Mill Springs. Some of the battlefield lands are currently owned by the Mill Springs Battlefield Association — a non-profit organization established in 1992 to preserve, protect, maintain and interpret Mill Springs Battlefield. Additional lands and resources associated with Mill Springs Battlefield may also be identified through this study process.
